Pastoral Care providers at OSF HealthCare provide spiritual care to patients, their families and staff.
Spiritual support services are available to people of all faiths and backgrounds.
How can Pastoral Care help?
Pastoral Care professionals offer:
- Visits and support to patients and families
- Pastoral conversations related to stress or fears, faith, sources of strength and health
- Patient advocacy
- Spiritual reading materials and resources
- Assistance with Advance Care Planning and Goals of Care
- Calling other clergy at patient request
- Prayer, ritual and sacraments

Our Pastoral Care professionals have a variety of faith backgrounds and minister to all who seek the reassurance and comfort of remembering that God does not forget those whom He calls and loves as His dear children.
The Pastoral Care staff is an integral part of our health care team. They are available 24 hours a day to respond to emergencies and requests for their presence. Our chapels are always open and available to all who seek a quiet place for prayer and reflection.
What to Expect
Pastoral Care providers visit patients at their bedside to provide spiritual support, pray with and for patients and their families, and lead support groups. Pastoral Care professionals can accompany you to identify sources of hope, strength and ways to cope with stress and despair. They can help increase a sense of wholeness, inner peace and hope.
Sacraments and worship services are also available at each hospital.
